Application Process

Grants from Lauryn’s Promise are awarded quarterly.  Deadlines for applications for each quarter are due by March 31st, June 30th, September 30th, and December 31st. If approved, grant funds will be distributed to families within 30 days of approval. Grants will not be distributed until a final contract is signed that includes the return of funds if adoptions are not completed.  Grants are awarded in size by strict verification of income levels.

Please make sure to include your last name in the subject line. (Ex. – Smith-Grant Application).

 

The following is a check list of items that are required for the application process.

Personal Financial Statement (Please use form below)

Previous year W-2 and most recent paystubs from any income earning applicants

Three letters of reference from non-family members

A personal letter that includes the following:

     - Why are you adopting?

     - How is your relationship with God part of this process?

     - Why should Lauryn's Promise award you this grant?

Proof of adoption match, name and contact information for adoption agency, and expected adoption timeframe

Include at least one family picture

  • Who is eligible to apply for a grant?
    Families who have a confirmed adoption match and meet the income verification requirements are eligible to apply. Grants are awarded based on financial need and the strength of the application, including personal statements and references.
  • How much financial assistance can we receive?
    Grant amounts vary and are awarded based on strict verification of income levels. While we cannot guarantee a specific amount, our goal is to help families with the costs associated with adoption.
  • Are the grants taxable?
    Our grants are considered an adoption subsidy and should be tax-free. However, we recommend consulting with a tax professional for any specific concerns.
  • When are the application deadlines?
    Applications must be submitted by the following deadlines: March 31st June 30th September 30th December 31st Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis, and funds will be distributed within 30 days of approval.
  • What happens after I submit my application?
    Once your application is submitted, it will be reviewed for completeness and eligibility. If selected, grant recipients will be notified, and funds will be distributed within 30 days of approval.
  • Do we have to return the grant if the adoption is not completed?
    Yes. All grant recipients must sign a final contract stating that if the adoption is not completed, funds must be returned.
  • Can I reapply if I don’t receive a grant?
    Yes, families who are not awarded a grant may reapply in a future quarter. We encourage applicants to ensure all required documents are included and their application reflects their adoption journey clearly.
  • Can I apply if I am adopting internationally?
    Yes! Our grants are available to families adopting both domestically and internationally, as long as all requirements are met.
  • Can I receive financial assistance from other sources in addition to Lauryn’s Promise?
    Yes, families are welcome to seek additional financial support through other grants, fundraising efforts, or employer adoption benefits.
